Something to Shout About!
Teacher of the Year!
Congratulations to Ms. Meleigha Meredith, Baker's 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Meredith demonstrates exceptional dedication and enthusiasm for her Pre-AP English Honors students, while also fostering positive and meaningful relationships across the student body. She actively contributes to the school community by sponsoring Baker's Spirit Club, the Horner Hooligans. Inspired by her parents, both of whom were educators, Ms. Meredith strives to be the high school teacher she wished she had. She credits her wonderful colleagues and remarkable students for the joy and fulfillment she experiences as a teacher at Baker. Congratulations, Ms. Meredith!
Running to Ole' Miss
Myla Reed has achieved remarkable success in her high school track career, which has earned her a full scholarship to compete at the collegiate level at Ole Miss. Since her sophomore year, Myla has held the record for the fastest female time in the state and is currently ranked 14th in the nation. She has recorded an impressive unofficial time of 11.62 seconds in the 100-meter dash, surpassing the official state record of 11.63 seconds. Congratulations, Myla. We eagerly anticipate the upcoming track season and your future successes.
Rebirth of "The Buzz"
Senior Timothy Connick organized a team of 30 student reporters, photographers, and editors to revive and publish out of circulation "The Buzz" newspaper as "The Buzz Magazine." As the Copy Editor of the yearbook, Timothy was motivated to re-establish "The Buzz Magazine" to provide the Baker community with timely stories throughout the year, rather than having to wait for their appearance at the end of the year in the yearbook. "The studnet lead magazine is supported by Mrs. Armstrong and Mrs. Fick.
Grand Champion Dancers
Baker's dance team was awarded the prestigious title of Grand Champion at the State of Alabama Dance Team Union Championship held in Birmingham. To qualify for this honor, teams must compete across all three categories. The team secured first place in each of the competition categories: Varsity Jazz, Hip Hop, and Pom routines. This is their first year participating in the Pom competition. Congratulations to our dance team under the leadership of Ms. Kylie Williamson.
